College Football is back! Those that follow along with the Piece of Mind Podcast and Blogs understand how excited we are for College Football to be back. This is Mark's 2023-24 College Football Season Predictions.


3 Big things for the 2023-24 College Football Season


1. The winner of Florida State/LSU will make the College Football Playoffs

  • 2 seasons ago I predicted USC will make their return to being a Juggernaut of a program. Although I was a year early with that prediction, my gut feeling started coming true after Lincoln Riley was hired as Head Coach and Caleb Williams transferred to the historic program. This season, I expect either Florida State or LSU to make that leap. It's no secret LSU will be in contention for the playoffs after first season with the team Head Coach Brian Kelly exceeded expectations for LSU. Historically LSU in "year 2" have been rewarded with a championship following their titles in Women's college basketball under coach Kim Mulkey, and LSU College Baseball coach Jay Johnson. Florida State caught my attention last season beating LSU in the first game of the season 24-23. The two teams meet in week 1 again and I expect a close matchup again, and predicting the winner of this game will make the CFP. Florida State is back? Yes, I believe so.

2. Not one team playing for a new conference in 2023 will win their new conference this season

  • Okay so this one might not be "big" or bold," but it is something I want to address for this season. We have to get used to change in College Football and accept that rivalries are going to change....forever. Below are the teams playing in new conferences in 2023:

  • BIG 12: BYU, Cincinnati, Houston, UCF: - Out of these 4 teams UCF may have the best chance out of the 4 teams, but Texas, TCU, Oklahoma State are still superior programs to all of these new programs, even after Cincinnati coming of their historic season a few years ago. I expect Cincinnati to continue to decline or stay dormant this season until conferences adjust again in 2024-2025.

  • AAC: Charlotte, FAU, North Texas, Rice, UAB, UTSA - Tulane is the answer until further notice, but UTSA/UAB are not far off as I predict.

  • Conference USA: Jacksonville State, Liberty, New Mexico State, Sam Houston - Liberty and Jacksonville State are interesting picks. If you are a betting person, you may be able to bet one of these for + coin for a good return as conference winners, but spoiler before conference predictions come I believe WKU clears both of these teams.

3. My favorite bets for the 2023-24 College Football Season

  • My first full College Football betting season will be underway starting week 0. Sports betting became legal in Ohio January 1, 2023 so all I was able to bet were bowl games starting then. I could tell you my favorite bet to place in College Football was not spread betting as games could go either way, but my favorite bet to make was team over/under individual team total points. Instead of me rooting for a team to win and let my bias ruin a bet. Why not bet for a team to score points! Future bets below:

  • Florida State to win ACC Conference +170

  • Tulane to win AAC Conference +230

  • (lotto play) Kansas State to win BIG 12 Conference +500

  • South Alabama to win Sun Belt Conference +300

  • Colorado over 3.5 Wins +126

  • Jacksonville State over 4.5 Wins +112
